This page explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies are used on velocitygroup.net.au, what each one does, and how you can control them.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, so it can remember information between page loads or visits. Some cookies are essential to make a site work; others help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
2. What we use
Essential cookies Always on
These keep the site working — they remember your reservation details while you fill the form, your cookie preferences, and the items in your cart. They cannot be switched off.
Analytics Optional
Helps us see which pages people visit, how long they stay, and whether anything's broken. We use this to improve the menu and the site. We use Google Analytics 4 with IP addresses anonymised.
Marketing Optional
Used to measure whether our ads on Instagram and Facebook are bringing people to the site. We do not use this to retarget you with ads elsewhere.
Embedded video Optional
When we embed a Vimeo or YouTube video on a page, those services set their own cookies. Disabling this will hide the video player and show a static image instead.
3. Detailed list
For full transparency, here is what we set today. We will update this list whenever something changes.
| Name | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| velocity_session | Remembers your reservation while you fill the form | Velocity Group | Session |
| velocity_cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie preferences | Velocity Group | 12 months |
| velocity_bookings | Stores your reservation history on this device | Velocity Group | 30 days |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 (only if you opt in) | 13 months | |
| _fbp | Facebook pixel (only if you opt in) | Meta | 90 days |
| vuid | Vimeo player | Vimeo | 24 months |
4. How to control cookies on your device
You can also control cookies through your browser. Most browsers let you:
- See what cookies are set and delete them individually.
- Block third-party cookies.
- Block all cookies from specific sites.
- Block all cookies from being set at all.
Be aware that blocking all cookies may break parts of the site — for example, the reservation form needs the session cookie to remember your details as you type.
Browser-specific help: Chrome · Firefox · Safari · Edge.
5. Australian privacy law
Cookies that contain personal information are governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. For more on how we handle your data, see our privacy policy.
Questions? Email privacy@velocitygroup.net.au and we'll get back within a couple of business days.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with a "last updated" date at the top. If the changes are material, we'll let you know by email if you're on our list.
